Daniela Decell was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to a Texas born and bred military father and German mother. The family moved to Texas when she was three years old and has never looked back. Daniela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Texas Christian University in 1985. In 1991, she earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, became a Certified Healthcare Administrator in 2004 and achieved Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2007. She began her career in healthcare as a critical care nurse at Saint Joseph Hospital and began her management career with Plaza in 1996 as the Neuroscience Service Line Director. She became Chief Nursing Officer in 1997 and Chief Operating Officer in 2000.
While at Plaza, Daniela was honored by the YWCA as a “Tribute to Women in Business” recipient in 2000 and by the Business Press in 2002 as a “Healthcare Hero”. Dany was instrumental in growing Plaza’s cardiovascular service line into one of HCA’s top five cardiovascular programs during her tenure.
Mrs. Decell was appointed the Chief Executive Officer at Medical City Las Colinas in Irving, Texas in August of 2005. Since joining the Las Colinas team, she has been instrumental in leading Las Colinas’ growth efforts by:
- Beginning an interventional and open heart program
- Creating state-of-the-art women’s services/women’s imaging services which includes two digital mammography units, breast MRI and an expanded labor and postpartum area which boosts a roomy VIP suite
- Reintroducing an orthopedic and spine product line to the campus
- Moving NICU to a level 3A status; and
- Obtaining Joint Commission Stroke Certification, July 2011 and re-certification in 2013
- Leapfrog "A" safety rating
In addition, she has worked diligently to create a culture and vision in the organization which fosters a healthy work environment, focuses on the customer and ensures quality outcomes for the patients. Las Colinas has been recognized by The Texas Medical Foundation for The Texas Healthcare Quality Improvement Award of Excellence in 2008, 2009 & 2010 and has achieved Chest Pain level II Accreditation.
Dany is married and together she and her husband have four awesome children.
The family loves outdoor sports, particularly water sports such as boating, skiing and scuba. Dany is an avid reader, decorator and in her spare time she serves on several boards in the metroplex including the Irving Economic Development Council, The Irving Chamber Workforce Enrichment Council and the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council.
