H. A. “Trey” Caraway III joined Medical City Las Colinas as Chief Nursing Officer in September of 2011. Trey is a native of Texas and graduated as a registered nurse from Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX with an Associate Degree in Nursing. He began critical care nursing at Lubbock, TX in ICU at Methodist Hospital and moved from Lubbock back to San Angelo where he worked in the Emergency Department as charge and a flight nurse. He began his leadership career as a Chief Flight Nurse for Air Angels in Chicago and opened their first Indiana base at Memorial Hospital and Health System in South Bend, IN. He returned to Texas in 2002 and began his career with HCA at Medical Center of Arlington where he advanced from ED manager/director to Vice President of Nursing Operations which expanded his span of control to include emergency department, women’s services, surgical services, and medical surgical floor. While at MCA he received the DFW Great 100 Nurses award. Trey was accepted into the Chief Nursing Officer Development Program and was transferred to Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA as an Associate Chief Nursing Officer and has now been promoted to CNO of Medical City Las Colinas.
Trey received his Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2009 and his Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Health Care Administration in 2011. The professional organizations that he supports are ANA/TNA, AONE/NTONE, and ACHE. His hobbies include traveling, motorcycles, outdoor activities, and his favorite sports teams are the Texas Longhorns, and all of the DFW professional sports teams.
